Undergraduate Teaching
Functional Textiles
A course on advanced textile systems for health, protection, sensing, comfort, and translational material design.
Course Introduction
Functional Textiles introduces students to textile materials that go beyond conventional clothing, including antibacterial fabrics, wound dressings, wearable sensors, thermal regulation systems, and health-oriented textile products. Students learn how fiber structure, finishing chemistry, device integration, and user scenarios shape functional textile design.
Learning Outcomes
- Understand major categories of functional textiles and their mechanisms.
- Evaluate textile function through material structure, interface behavior, and application context.
- Design concept-level functional textile solutions for health and daily-life scenarios.
